| 내용 | 인도 민속미술 ‘Rangoli’의 도상적 표현과 특성 Iconic Representation and Characteristic of India Folk Art ‘Rangoli' 이 노 미 성균관대학교 디자인 사이언스 연구소 Lee No-Mi Sungkyunkwan University ______________________________________________________ 논문요약 본 연구는 인도의 전통 민속미술인 ‘랑골리’의 이론적 정초를 통해 랑골리의 도상적 표현과 상징성을 밝힘으로써 랑골리의 특성을 규명하는데 그 목적이 있다. 랑골리는 인도여성들이 집 대문 앞이나 거실 바닥에 흰 쌀가루로 도안을 그린 후 그 안에 색색의 염료로 물들인 가루를 채워 넣는 인도 전통의 민속미술로 가정의 안정과 복을 기원하는 성스러운 종교적 도상을 뜻한다. 우주만물의 원리를 도상화한 랑골리는 영적 진화의 과정을 거쳐 궁극적 실재를 체험하게 함으로써 자아와 우주가 하나됨을 깨달을 수 있는 명상도상으로 생명존중의 힌두사상이 반영된 종교예술의 표본이다. 약 5천여 년 전에 유래된 것으로 추정되는 랑골리는 신과 인간관계의 동일성을 반영한 점과 선을 잇는 대칭구조의 무한한 패턴이 가능한 특성을 보인다. 즉 균형은 랑골리의 중요한 핵심으로 이는 힌두사상에서 우주의 균형을 상징하며 우주본질의 무한성과 신들의 영원성을 상징한다. 이에 본 연구는 신의 현현 또는 신의 현존으로 인식되는 랑골리의 도상적 표현과 상징성을 분석함으로써 랑골리는 힌두사상의 종교적 상징을 함축함과 동시에 시공간과 성(性)적 제한성, 서민예술의 대중성, 자연친화적 특성을 나타내고 있음을 규명하였다. 또한 랑골리는 집중력과 인내심, 상상력을 동반한 창의적 미술 감각은 물론 과학, 수리적 사고력이 함께 동반되는 힐링 아트(healing art)의 창작예술교육으로 널리 활용될 수 있을 것이다. 이에 본 논의는 그동안 국내에서 논의되지 않았던 랑골리에 대한 독창적 연구로 랑골리의 이론적 단초를 제공하였다는데 유의미한 연구가 될 것이다. 주제어 랑골리, 꼴람, 인도 민속미술 Abstract This study aims to identify the characteristics of “Rangoli”, a traditional folk art of India, by revealing the iconic expression and symbolic nature of Rangoli through the theoretical foundation of Rangoli. As folk art whereby Indian women make a drawing with white rice powder on the floor in front of a gate or of living room and fill the drawing with powders dyed with colorful pigments, Rangoli is a religious icon to wish peace and blessings on a family. Rangoli, which symbolizes the laws of all things in the universe, is a contemplative icon through which we are able to realize the unity of the self and the universe by enabling us to experience a fundamental existence through the process of spiritual evolution. This is also a sample of religious art that reflects the respect of life in the Hindu ideology. Consequently, as a result of analyzing the iconic characteristics of Rangoli, Rangoli was discovered to imply the religious symbolic nature of the Hindu ideology and at the same time to have spatiotemporal and sexual limitations, the popularity of folk art, and nature-friendly characteristics. Accordingly, as an original study on Rangoli, this discussion will be meaningful in furnishing a theoretical key to Rangoli. Keyword Rangoli, Kolam, India Folk Art |
